"When you're different, when you're special, sometimes you have to get used to being alone."
|Name: Kurt Hummel |
Age: 19 years old
Orientation: 100% gay
Played By: Chris Colfer
Physical Description: Kurt’s 5’11” tall with blue eyes and chestnut brown hair that is very, very rarely seen perfectly trimmed and styled. He is slender and clean-cut, always clean-shaven and will be found in the any number of latest fashions he has managed to get his hands on. Kurt is gay, and his appearance doesn’t hide that in any way. He’s very collected and poised, and has a bitchpls glare that could cut ice.
Personality: Kurt is the epitome of a sassy gay bitch. He is out and proud, and has always done his best in taking pride in who he is. He has a heart of gold if he likes you, but if he doesn’t, you will know about it and probably via some perfectly-timed sarcastic insults thrown in your direction. He adores his family and friends, and will do anything for them. He is extremely ambitious, always setting the bar really high for himself, but often finding himself rejected and feeling like being himself is never quite enough. In his senior year, he bore the brunt of a lot of losses and disappointments, but kept forging ahead each time determined more than ever not to let the world knock him down. He desperately wants to succeed without changing himself, he is just yet to find the right formula.
He is impressively talented in performing, and pretty much anything will go with Kurt. He’ll try anything once, and is far from shy. He is, however, a very private person and often pushes people away from him in the name of self-preservation because he is so used to being alone and isolated due to being a gay kid in a small Midwest town his whole life. He wears emotional masks, usually the sassy gay bitch one, to hide his true feelings if he is hurt and there are only a small handful of people who truly know the real Kurt.
|Kurt’s life hasn’t been easy. From a very young age, he knew he was different but didn’t truly understand why until he grew up and discovered he was gay. Kurt lost his mother when he was nine years old, leaving father, Burt, alone to raise his only son. Kurt and Burt were always like chalk and cheese, but Burt loved his son unconditionally and even if he didn’t quite understand it, supported Kurt completely when he came out in his sophomore year at school... Burt later told Kurt he had known he was gay since he was three years old. |
Kurt was harassed, bullied and ostracised for being different his whole life. He was picked on and abused for being a ‘fag’ and ‘queer’, but he worked so hard to maintain who he was. It was never easy, and it was lonely growing up, but he eventually started to like himself when he joined Glee Club in high school and found a priceless bunch of close friends for life. After some embarrassing misguided patches of feelings stemming from just wanting to feel normal like everyone else, Kurt met Blaine Anderson in the midst of some painful struggles with bullying at school. Blaine changed his life and even though their friendship had a few bumps in the road, they became close and inseparable and Blaine soon admitted his deeper feelings to Kurt and they started dating after sharing a kiss – Kurt’s first real kiss.
He has now graduated high school after a really rough final two years of his school life. He trudged on, surviving through long-term bullying, his beloved dad having a heart attack, losing out on a part in the school musical he wanted, losing the class presidency he was hoping to win to make a change in the close-minded school... and finally, losing his much yearned for place at the New York Academy of Dramatic Arts. Blaine was by his side the entire time, and their relationship had some rocky patches throughout Kurt’s struggle to find himself. He has now graduated high school and has no idea what the next chapter in his life should be. He remained in Lima, trying to figure out his Plan Bs and spending time with Blaine until – hopefully – the answers bitchslap him roughly in the face one day and he knows with turn to take at this crossroads of his life.
